Fusion Shelf

Durability & Necessity

The project is based on my experience in real life. I have moved many times over the past few years. How to deal with my belongings was a question whenever I had to move again. Some objects were necessary, so I had to carry them away, while some were disposable in terms of price and necessity so I could throw them away. I started to doubt the condition of some objects and whether they should be made with high durability. Also, cardboard turned out to be something I needed to have as I had to pack my stuff. I wondered why I couldn’t make something from it. I needed a shelf for my shoes at that moment, so I conducted an experimental project to create a shoe shelf from waste materials.

I cut waste cardboard into pieces and then glued them together. I assumed these cardboard sticks were strong enough to connect with waste wood posts to form a structure.

the Innate Beauty

I cut waste cardboard into pieces and then glued them together. I assumed these cardboard sticks were strong enough to connect with waste wood to form a structure.

The other issue I would like to examine is the innate beauty of everything. Everything can be beautiful if we arrange it properly to reveal its beauty. I adopted the PP board, which is commonly seen and very cheap in Taiwan. It is usually not regarded as beautiful and valued, so I decided to combine it with the shelf to see if I could present it properly.
